About NTDB

The National Trauma Data Bank^® (NTDB^®) is the largest aggregation of U.S. trauma registry data ever assembled.

NTDB Participation

NTDB participants not only contribute to the growing knowledge base for trauma research, but they also gain access to a variety of reports that can be used to benefit their hospital.

History of the NTDB

1989: National Trauma Data Bank Established
The Board of Regents of the ACS committed significant resources to establish the NTDB.

1999: Database Analysis

2001: First NTDB Annual Report Released

2002: Rapid Growth of the NTDB

2003: Expanded Web Presence

2004: One-Million Record Mark
The NTDB reaches the one-million record mark and begins a project on data element standardization.

2005 – National Sample Project
The NTDB and the CDC collaborate on the National Sample Project.

2007: Collection Commenced

2014: Five-Million Records Mark Surpassed

2017: Transition of the NTDB to the TQP
The NTDB transitioned to become a part of the broader network of services known as the Trauma Quality Programs (TQP).

Research Data Set

The NTDB creates and distributes research data sets that can be used by researchers. To gain access to NTDB data, researchers must submit requests through our online application process.
