In response to the valued feedback from our accredited cancer programs, the Commission on Cancer’s (CoC) National Cancer Database (NCDB) has launched a significant improvement to our technological infrastructure. We are pleased to announce that the Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS) was released September 28, 2020.
The Rapid Quality Reporting System (RQRS) and the annual NCDB Call for Data have served as vital reporting and quality improvement tools providing both real time and long-term assessment of hospital-level adherence to quality of cancer care measures for CoC-accredited programs.
The new RCRS replaces the RQRS and NCDB annual Call for Data submissions. With RCRS, cancer programs can submit new and updated cases on a frequent basis (similar to the RQRS procedure) and the annual NCDB Call for Data will be phased out. RCRS now serves as the new, single source of data submission for all CoC-accredited hospital registries.
Cases submitted to RCRS will include all disease sites from 2004 through current. The initial RCRS launch includes the RQRS quality measures, and RQRS will subsequently be shut down. Additionally, five quality measures from CP3R have been added to RCRS for a total of 11 measures, and CP3R has been phased out. RCRS is the single data platform for real time and historical quality measure performance data.
