Quality of care for quality of life
Cancer is one of the most difficult diseases of our lifetime. To address the complexities across breast disease types, the American College of Surgeons developed the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
The NAPBC was created to help facilities deliver high-quality care for breast disease that considers the entire patient and sets the standard for compassionate, personalized, and coordinated care. The NAPBC emphasizes providing the best possible care for the patient to improve quality of life.
Hospitals that participate in one of our Quality Programs, including the NAPBC, earn the distinction as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner (SQP).
The NAPBC provides the structure and resources needed to develop and operate a high-quality center focused on treating those with breast disease or cancer. Programs accredited by the NAPBC are focused on facilitating multidisciplinary, integrated, and comprehensive breast disease services.
NAPBC accreditation helps programs improve their:
Why this matters: Multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) are associated with improved clinical decision-making, outcomes, and patient experience for patients with breast disease or cancer.
Why this matters: Cancer programs focus on assessing the individual needs of each patient with breast disease or cancer to provide a tailored plan based on their goals for treatment.
Why this matters: The establishment of processes helps patients understand the phases of care after breast disease or cancer diagnosis and contribute to their decision making.
Why this matters: The NAPBC standards address the entire care journey for patients with breast disease or cancer, beginning with screening and prevention all the way to survivorship or end of life care.
Our site reviewers have extensive and demonstrable knowledge of the current NAPBC standards and previous experience teaching or presenting instructional or educational information to a learner-based audience.
The Your Breast Cancer Surgery Program gives patients tools and support to help prepare physically, mentally, and emotionally for surgery.
