Dr. Sucandy is a dual fellowship trained surgeon who practices at Florida Hospital Tampa Digestive Health Institute. Dr Sucandy completed the most prestigious Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine - Thomas E Starzl Transplantation Institute. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh, Dr. Sucandy finished an advanced clinical fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. Dr. Sucandy maintains an active agenda in clinical research of Liver, Pancreas, Biliary Tract, and Foregut diseases, while helping to develop a minimally invasive robotic surgery program at Florida Hospital Tampa. Dr. Sucandy is a member of various national and international surgical associations and has published numerous scientific articles in many different journals. Dr. Sucandy is the IRCAD (Institut de Recherche contre les Cancers de l'Appareil Digestif / Research Institute Against Digestive Cancer) Award Recipient 2016-2017 supported by Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and Karl Storz Endoscopy. Dr. Sucandy is one of the very few minimally invasive surgeons in the country who are currently offering robotic major liver resections for both primary and metastatic liver tumors, robotic major biliary resections and reconstructions, and complex minimally invasive pancreatic resections as well as other abdominal operations.
