Dr. Jamie A. Cannon, MD, is a colorectal surgeon focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer. Dr. Cannon is a graduate of University of Arizona College of Medicine. From there she did her general surgery training at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as chief administrative resident. She went on to do a fellowship in colorectal surgery with Georgia Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates in Atlanta, Georgia. She is currently faculty at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where she performs laparoscopic resections for colon cancer, and specializes in sphincter sparing techniques for low rectal cancer. She also offers transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) for removal of rectal lesions. In addition to cancer surgery, Dr. Cannon also offers surgical treatments for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, and common colon and anorectal conditions.
