Dr. Wright is the Center for VideoEndoscopic Surgery Endowed Professor at the University of Washington. He is a board-certified surgeon with particular expertise in gastrointestinal surgery, including anti-reflux surgery and surgery for ventral, incisional, and inguinal hernias. He is Director of the UW Medicine Hernia Center and the Director of the UW Advanced Gastrointestinal and Foregut Surgery fellowship. He is on the board of several national organizations, including SAGES, the Fellowship Council, and the Society for Surgical Ergonomics. He conducts research on innovations in surgical technology, education, and surgical robotics. Dr. Wright is on the faculty of the WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare, where is is actively involved in education and research. His focus is on improving patient outcomes through better clinician education.
