Dr. Guzman is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. After completing his residency training in General Surgery at the University of Manitoba, he received additional fellowship training in Vascular Surgery. He completed a one year Fellowship in the Section of Vascular Surgery at the University of Manitoba followed by a one year Senior Research Fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle in duplex ultrasound. In 1992 Dr. Guzman joined the Department of Surgery, Section of Vascular Surgery as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Professor in 2008. Dr. Guzman completed an Interventional Vascular Radiology Fellowship at the University of Manitoba in 2006. He was the Director for the I.H. Asper Clinical Research Institute from 2007-2013 as well as the Site Medical Manager for the Department of Surgery at St. Boniface Hospital from 2009 – 2020. He has also been a previous Program Director for Vascular Surgery at the University of Manitoba, past Exam Chair of and current Chair for the National Specialty Committee for Vascular Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He was also a past president for the Canadian Society for Vascular surgery. Currently, Dr. Guzman is the Regional Lead for Vascular Surgery with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Professor and Head, Section of Vascular Surgery at the University of Manitoba, Max Rady College of Medicine. He is also the current Governor for the Manitoba Chapter at the American College of Surgeons.
