New Community to replace ACS Surgery News

ACS Emerging News—a new ACS Community—is replacing ACS Surgery News.

ACS

January 4, 2019

A new community, ACS Emerging News, will launch this month in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Communities to replace ACS Surgery News, which ceased publication after the December 2018 issue. Karen E. Deveney, MD, FACS, and Tyler G. Hughes, MD, FACS, co-editors of ACS Surgery News, will lead the new community. Dr. Hughes also is editor-in-chief of the ACS Communities.

The co-editors, along with members of the former ACS Surgery News editorial board, will provide useful summaries of the latest meetings and presentations they have attended, as well as keep members posted on the latest developments in the major surgery journals. Readers are invited to comment on or ask questions about the articles.

Because ACS Surgery News’ primary readership consisted of general surgeons, ACS members who currently subscribe to the General Surgery community e-mails—more than 16,000 members— have been auto-subscribed to ACS Emerging News. All members of the College are welcome to join, however, and may opt out at any time.
