Overly invasive mental health questions in licensing and credentialing applications can prevent health workers from seeking support and increase the risk of suicide—but healthcare organizations can take steps and show their commitment to their employees’ wellbeing.
Join the Surgeon Well-Being Coalition and the ACS Surgeon Well-Being Program in a free webinar Wednesday, May 28, 3:00–4:00 pm CT, to learn about the Lorna Breen Foundation’s Wellbeing First Champion Challenge.
The goal of the Champion Challenge is to educate surgeons and other physicians on how they can advocate supporting licensure boards, hospitals, and health systems in auditing and changing, as needed, applications, forms, and addendums to be free of intrusive mental health questions and stigmatizing language. Organizations that take action to update these materials will be recognized as a Wellbeing First Champion.
The webinar, moderated by Halle Ellison, MD, MAS, PSHQ, FACS, a general surgeon, palliative care physician, and leader of the well-being coaching program at Geisinger Health in Danville, Pennsylvania, will include expert panelists with knowledge of advocating for well-being.
