Surgeons Study “Ideal” Transition from Practice to Retirement

For many surgeons, retirement is an emotionally evocative subject; yet there are few guidelines for smoothly transitioning out of active practice—and transplant surgeons may have unique challenges. Listen to Drs. Ritah Chumdermpadetsuk and David Lee discuss their recent article from the Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS), which aimed at defining an “ideal” retirement focuses on transplant surgeons and that identify behavioral and cognitive patterns associated with optimism toward retirement.
