Founded in 1952, the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (LA-ACS) is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of surgery while promoting the highest standards of surgical care. The Chapter fosters professional growth, ethical practice, and education among its members, which include Fellows, Associate Fellows, Residents, and Medical Students.
LA-ACS serves as a medium for communication between Louisiana surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, while also providing a forum to discuss surgical experiences and advancements across specialties. Each year, the Chapter hosts an Annual Meeting in New Orleans, bringing together surgeons from across the state for educational sessions, abstract presentations, resident competitions, and opportunities for professional collaboration.
The Chapter strives to support its members by enhancing surgical training, advocating for patients and surgeons, and maintaining the highest standards of care for the people of Louisiana.
