Committed to comprehensively evaluating the scope and performance of a potential American College of Surgeons Accredited Education Institute (ACS-AEI), surveyors are selected from among a group of surgeons who were either nominated or recruited by members of the Accreditation Review Committee, ACS Division of Education staff, and Fellows of the College to file an application to become surveyors. All surveyors have expertise or an interest in simulation-based surgical education, and have expressed an interest in wanting to serve as a volunteer surveyor for the accreditation program. The surveyors come from all parts of the world. They participate in a one-day training program, in addition to receiving periodic updates regarding the accreditation program.
Are you a Fellow of the ACS (or equivalent international organization), interested in simulation-based education and training, and want to conduct site visits at other education institutes? If so, you may want to apply to be a Surveyor for the ACS AEI program!
At this time, we are particularly in need of surveyors from the West Coast, Europe, and others who can easily travel internationally. We would also love to add surveyors from institutes who do not currently have ACS AEI surveyors on their faculty.
If you are interested, or know of someone at your institution who may be interested, please download the application form, which includes surveyor responsibilities. If you have any questions about being a surveyor for the ACS AEI program, please contact edinstitutes@facs.org.
