5 Ways to Maximize Your Career Fair Experience

One of the most popular events held during Clinical Congress every year is the Career Fair. This important networking opportunity allows you to meet with representatives from a variety of companies, improve your professional skills, and learn about available positions.

Located inside the Exhibit Hall at the Moscone Center, the Career Fair will be open:

• Sunday, October 20, and Monday, October 21, 9:00 am–3:30 pm PT
• Tuesday, October 22, 9:00 am–2:00 pm PT

As an extension of ACS Career Connection—the leading career resource for surgeons—this networking event will allow job-seeking attendees to meet in-person with prospective employers from healthcare organizations, hospitals, universities, and private practices.

Anyone interested in a new position should have an updated resume in hand and be prepared to have introductory conversations. Appointments are not necessary, but you must register for Clinical Congress 2024 to attend the in-person Career Fair in San Francisco. There is no additional charge.

If you participate in the Career Fair, you will be able to:

• Gather materials and make vital connections in a fun and energetic setting
• Meet one-on-one with top employers and recruiters
• Drop off your resume if you are unable to connect in person
• Search and apply for jobs online ahead of time

Five ways to make the most of the Career Fair:

1. Preregister online. The Career Fair is open to all, but preregistering online will allow you to receive updates as the event grows closer.
2. Bring your resume. Tailor your resume to make it stand out to employers. Print several copies to bring with you.
3. Dress the part. This is an informal event, but you’ll still be making a first impression on potential employers. Wear business attire.
4. Make new friends. The Career Fair isn’t only a chance to connect with recruiters and employers, but also an opportunity to spend time talking with other attendees.
5. Follow up. Gather contact information from everyone you meet and map out next steps while you’re still face to face. Then follow up with a personal thank you note or email.
