About ACS

Regent

The management and control of the business and affairs of the College shall be vested in the Board of Regents.

Structure

There are currently 24 Regents. Two Regents reside in Canada. The President of the College shall be the twenty-third member of the Board of Regents.

How Do I Get Nominated?

Terms

  • Can serve up to nine years—three terms of three years.
  • Must be actively practicing surgery.

Duties

  • Management and control of the business and affairs of the College.
  • The duties for a Regent can vary depending on what workgroup and projects you choose to participate.

Time Commitment

  • Three in-person meetings per year, which take place February/March, May/June, and in conjunction with the annual Clinical Congress
  • Various conference calls throughout the year
  • Various workgroup conference calls and projects
